"I would like to transform my practice by using a strengths-based approach more often instead of noticing deficits, and reframing behaviors in consideration of a child's developmental stage and needs. I strongly believe that classroom management will improve because children will feel consistently valued and build strong relationships. I try my best now of course, and there's certainly room to improve in terms of sharing a child's focus, responding in developmentally appropriate ways and offering more child-led activities."
"I really really loved the layout of this course! It was so easy to take on my phone and kept me engaged the entire time. The information was also so amazing! I'm going to have my director encourage my coworkers to take this course!"
"It gives useful practice information to teachers/caregivers. I liked that what I was learning about is something I already do and it gave more in depth to the why and the videos showed clear examples, this will transform my practice as I am now more aware of how to 'return' to a student meaningful responses. As the lead classroom teacher I plan on talking about this with my classroom team."
"The video examples were very helpful in promoting observations, critical thinking, clinical and professional reasoning skills. The transcripts allow me to go back and review each item. The links to resources from websites, articles, and research were very important resources for me."
"The videos and real (and authentic) examples are helpful for teachers as they learn that sometimes it is the smaller interactions (i.e. looking up at an airplane together after a child hears it go by) and how that is so impactful for a child."
"The course was easy to understand and felt like it went by quickly. I like the video clips that highlighted the ideas being conveyed. It was definitely one of the more enjoyable online training that I have taken. It was nice to have the activities checked off of the corner to see how far I had progressed through
"It's the little things that we do [Serve and Return] that we've never paid attention to that add up to something really great. And we were doing it all along."
"I like the simplicity of it. I think it's beautiful. I think a lot of the time we think something that is more complicated is better. It's given me things to think about consciously."
"It was very interesting to learn the science behind child-parent everyday communication."
